The project in Mali has been successfully concluded. Now two albinos are working three days a week producing sun block in the laboratory of the Dermatologisch Instituut Marchoux in the capital city of Bamako.

Volunteer Corry van Zelm who coordinated this project in Mali on behalf of Stichting Afrikaanse Albino’s in Mali is now back in the Netherlands. In just five months she set up the laboratory and taught two albinos everything about the production process. Just before her departure the cream was officially launched together with the introduction of all those involved in the production.


The trained albinos will continue the work so that the growing numbers of albinos (registered and unregistered) in Mali can continue to be provided with sun block. This is done under the direction of the Albino Association SIAM (Solidarité pour l'insertion des Albinos du Mali).In a letter SIAM has that they are very grateful for the help given by our foundation. They are hoping for a subsidy from the new Minister of Health in support of the project.
