In the Regional Dermatology Training Centre (RDTG) a pilot scheme for local sun block production will be commencing shortly. ‘The action plan was finished two years ago and in the mean time the lab has been set up and the last few necessities are on order,‘ was the report of a volunteer who visited the het RDTG in Moshi at the end of December last year to check on and discuss progress.
Through the use of outreach clinics in which doctors visit albinos in the smaller villages where two controls on skin diseases per year can be received and protective clothing and sun block can be provided. The Stichting Afrikaanse Albino’s has also organised two shipments of hundreds of bottles of sun block to Moshi as well as providing the RDTG with an action plan and a formula for sun block so that local production can be set up. Soon the first litres of their own sun block will be a fact in Moshi. |
